An Alberta farmer represented Canadian agriculture at the World Economic Forum. Chris Perry, a potato farmer from Chin, east of Coaldale, received an invitation from PepsiCo to participate in the January 2026 event in Davos, Switzerland. While in Davos, the fourth-generation farmer participated in two sessions. One was the “Partners in Possibility: Collaborating for Resilient Food Systems” panel, with representatives from PepsiCo, banking, and other industries. That discussion focused on how collaboration among farmers, brands, finance, and policy can move solutions from pilots to true infrastructure.

Perry also joined other producers for PepsiCo’s signature event in Davos, “Farmers First: Scaling a More Resilient Food System.” In addition to Perry, a French rapeseed farmer, and a third-generation corn farmer from Brazil engaged in conversation putting farmers at the centre of it. What made that panel special was the intent behind it: To listen first, to acknowledge what works, what doesn’t, and how to strengthen collaboration to scale what is already proving itself on farms around the world. The speaker will elaborate on his experience.

Speaker: Chris Perry

Chris Perry is a fourth-generation farmer and c0-owner of Perry Family Farm in southern Alberta, where he and his family operate approximately 6,000 irrigated acres focused on potato production. The farm supplies spuds to PepsiCo Frito-Lay and McCain amongst other major food companies and has been recognized with multiple grower awards, including PepsiCo’s Global Farmer Award.

Chris is also founder of GrowTEC, an on-farm biogas and renewable natural gas facility that converts agricultural and food waste into energy, helping power both the farm and the broader energy grid. His work sits at the intersection of agriculture, energy, and sustainability, with a focus on building practical, circular systems that work in the real world. In addition to his role on the farm, Chris serves as Chairman of the Canadian Biogas Association, where he supports the advancement of renewable energy solutions across Canada.
