Prison American Style: a cautionary tale

Recent adjustments in American criminal justice policy have created a uniquely large prison population. Dr. Malcolm Greenshields will discuss his views on the effectiveness of these policies.

Malcolm Greenshields was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and spent his childhood in Saskatoon, Iowa and Ottawa. He completed a diploma in Agriculture, followed by a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in History at the University of Saskatchewan in 1978. He then earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Sussex, England in 1986. Dr.Greenshields taught and served in academic administration at the University of Saskatchewan from 1980-85 and 1987-88. Since 1985 he has taught in the History Department at the University of Lethbridge.
